This week I probably had one of the most powerful and spiritual days and week yet on my mission so far.
Tuesday, we contacted this cool guy named Godwin. So Godwin has four metal rods sticking out of his leg because it was crushed by a bulldozer. He is cool, we started teaching him and the Spirit was so strong and he really felt it. Today we just introduced the gospel to him, set up a return appointment for Friday, and gave him a book of Mormon to read.
Wednesday, we had an amazing zone conference. It was all about the Spirit and teaching with and recognizing the Spirit. It was truly what we needed to hear. We also went over some of the new parts of the updated Preach My Gospel.
Thursday, we taught Martha which was a little slow because she was sick, so we went to teach her friend and that was a great lesson.
Friday, Ok, the best day yet. We started off teaching Michael. So, this guy’s wife stays in Nigeria and he hasn’t talked to her for 2 months. He told us he called her and taught her all about what we are teaching him and about the book of Mormon. She wants to meet with missionary’s so we are working on getting them to her. Then he was saying that he just wishes that he could be baptized today or tomorrow and that the 11th is so far away. We continued teaching him about the restoration. We told him we would return tomorrow and learn some more. We then had a small lesson with Timothy. Then we went to see Godwin. So, when we sit down I look at his bible on his lap and it is a Latter-day saint version. We asked about it and he started going off on how he loves it and how there are cross references and a topical guide and a bible dictionary. He has been using it for twenty years, when he found it in his father’s home (he doesn’t know if his father was a member). Then we moved on and asked if he read the Book of Mormon and he was like yeah. He told us about the Priest of King Noah and how they stole the daughters and then there was war. How the righteous people escaped so that they could worship God. How they came to a kingdom that worshiped God. We were amazed! We then talked about in his study he has come to believe that the sabbath is Saturday. We talked and taught and this guy is so humble and the Spirit was so strong. It easily entered in to his heart and as we taught by the Spirit it truly changed his heart. We then we talked about the priesthood and offered a blessing so we closed with a prayer. Then he said, I would like that blessing by the power of God. So, my companion and I gave him a blessing. Our hands were just shaking because of the strength of the Holy Ghost that was present. A great blessing was given, but I won’t say much about it. We then went to see Prince, this was the second time meeting him, we were inspired to give him the Law of Chastity lesson which is usually one of the last lessons taught. It was a good lesson. We also taught Mavis a wonderful lesson and we are hoping to get her interviewed for baptism soon.
Saturday we had a great continuation of lesson one with Micheal. We then went around sharing a message with our investigators and inviting them to church. After that, I did a baptismal interview.
Sunday, church was great. Michael even brought a friend and Mavis came. It was a great day at church. We even had an area 70 and the Stake President.
Love,
Elder Marcusen
