Week 35

Hello everyone,

Wow! It has been 8 months today.  I got a call from Brother Prosper from HoHoe. He has just been called as second counselor in the branch presidency. He was a newly baptized member when I arrived in Ghana.

Tuesday
Today there was lights out all day. (No Power)  We went to see Benjamin. Man has he changed! It is now two weeks without drinking. He is so much more coherent in the lessons. So now we are working with him to stop smoking. We also visited Lawrence, he wants us to go and teach his friends the last week of March. I am excited for that.

Wednesday
Today we started off visiting Patience, who is really interested.  She is now giving us a certain day to come back, and not saying just to come next week. We tried to find Joseph, but he was nowhere to be found.

Thursday
Today we went to grandpa Rodgers and helped him teach English to a sister. Then we contacted for the rest of the day.

Friday
So today we woke up to a text from the mission office saying we are not to eat at members’ homes and that we should prepare all of our own food. There has been an outbreak of Lassa fever, but it is not to be worried about. It is like Ebola, so to me that contradicts its self. So today we met with Benjamin and invited him to the baptism tomorrow. He said he would try to come. Then we went and taught Patience, which is always a good lesson where the Spirit is strong. Later we went to the Ampows but we had to explain why we could not eat. Tonight when my companion and I were trying to sleep there was a funeral going on right next to our apartment. They had music blaring from 8pm until 10am.

Saturday
Well this had to be the most interesting baptism I have had yet. The door to the baptistery was lock so they had them lift Jason over the glass and in to the font. Then the person doing the baptism (not a small guy) had to climb over which was a sight to see. Then the guy shows up with the key but still they were both in and we had a good laugh. Before this Benjamin showed up! What a surprise. Afterwards we went and taught Lidia who is a cousin of a member. In that lesson the spirit was so strong you could feel the power of the truthfulness of the message we shared.

Today was nice and calm, except for having to turn down member meals.

Love,
