Week 22

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Monday
In the evening, I received a phone call from the Aps and learned that I will be training a missionary who is only temporally in the mission (he is waiting for his visa), and that I will be going to Haatso.  So I stayed up all night packing

Tuesday
We had to be at the mission home early so we took a taxi and we got stopped at a light by the police for no reason. He would not let us go, so we decided to give him a tip (bribe) for his great work. That seemed to clear up the problem and he let us on our way. However, while we were stopped, the APs called again and said that my new companion just got his visa. I will be still going to Haatso, but will be in a threesome with the elders there. When I got to the mission home, I went with the office elder to pick up Pizza. After eating the APs took me to my new area.

Wednesday
Today I went around learning the area and visiting the members. For the midweek activity this week, we learned a cultural dance for the cultural festival on Friday.

Thursday
This morning we had choir, but we ended up being an hour late because our taxi driver got arrested and traffic was bad because two presidents were visiting Ghana. Then my bike tire went flat, so a lot of walking to try to find a bike repair shop. However, even after he fixed it, it was flat again after a couple of hours. Today we visited a members Nannie who is being baptized on Sunday and taught the last lessons with her.

Friday
We went to the cultural festival at the stake center. There were two things that each ward did. One was a song, which we placed 3rd.  Then a dance/chant thing, which was so much fun! Everyone loved it because three white guys were getting involved in their culture. Then we went and met with some of our investigators. Hopefully 3 of them will be baptized on Christmas eve.

Saturday
Today was just busy visiting people. In the evening we went to a store that sells root beer and ice-cream. We made our own root beer floats. In the apartment, my room is perfect for setting up a hammock. So I have set it up and it is so much more comfortable to sleep in.

Sunday
At church this guy comes up to us before it started and right away I knew he was American because he had a southern accent. He has been in Ghana for 8 years. Today he saw the church sign board that says visitors welcome and decided to come in.  After church he said that he will definitely be back next Sunday.

Merry Christmas
